What it is for

An angle broom is the attachment that keeps a contractor off a municipality's list. Tracking mud onto a public road is a citation and a phone call; a broom on the skid steer turns that into ten minutes at the end of the day.

Angling matters more than diameter. A broom that angles left and right lets the operator windrow debris to one side in a single continuous pass instead of pushing a growing pile straight ahead and then having to pick it up.

Bristle choice follows the surface. All-poly bristles are gentler and are correct on finished concrete, sealed asphalt and pavers. A poly-and-wire mix cuts through packed dirt and light ice, at the cost of marking a soft surface.

How to size it

Match the broom width to the machine so the sweep path is wider than the tyres or tracks, otherwise the machine drives through what it just swept. Then check the required hydraulic flow against your carrier's auxiliary circuit: brooms are continuous-duty motors, and a low-flow machine on a high-flow broom sweeps slowly and runs hot all day rather than failing outright.

Straight answers

Before you order

Can I use an angle broom for snow?

Yes, for light dry snow up to a few inches it is faster and cleaner than a blade, and it leaves a surface that does not need as much salt. For heavy or wet snow you want a pusher or a blade. The broom will bog and you will wear bristles fast.

How long do the bristles last?

Typically 200 to 400 hours depending on surface and how hard the operator loads the broom. The most common cause of short bristle life is down-pressure: a broom should sweep with its own weight, not with the loader arms pressing it into the pavement.

Do I need a dust suppression kit?

On any occupied or commercial site, yes. A water spray kit knocks the dust down and is frequently the difference between being allowed to sweep during business hours and being sent home until the site is empty.
